Accommodation in Kuching
Accommodation during your studies in Kuching
Most international students at Swinburne Sarawak choose between on-campus housing in the Student Village or modern off-campus apartments near Kuching’s city centre.
On-campus accommodation is located right next to the university and offers basic, secure student housing. The Student Village includes single and twin-share rooms, each equipped with a bed, desk, wardrobe, and fan (some rooms have air conditioning). Shared facilities include kitchens, laundry, and student lounges. Priority is given to international and first-year students. Rules and expectations for residents are clearly outlined by the university. Limited on-campus housing: single or shared rooms.
Many students, however, prefer to rent private accommodation in the city. Riverine Resort is a popular choice among exchange students. Located beside the Sarawak River and within walking distance of the city centre, it offers 1–3 person shared apartments with great views, gym access, swimming pools, and other amenities. It’s about a 10-minute Grab ride to campus and offers a more flexible, independent lifestyle.
Other recommended areas include Victoria Hall, which is close to the Spring Shopping Mall, and Citadines Uplands Serviced Apartments, offering hotel-style living with full amenities. If you’re considering off-campus living, it’s often easiest to arrange housing after arrival, when you can visit properties and finalize details in person. Grab is the most convenient and affordable way to move around the city.
